Implementation Science
Did you know that only 17% of research results ever see their way into clinical practice? This is often because of issues with the implementation of the new therapy. For example, do physicians understand who to treat, is the therapy administered in the right setting, do clinics have the capacity to incorporate the therapy into the way they operate, are patients aware of their disease and the available options? These are all "implementation" issues that are typically overlooked in the rush to prove efficacy, safety and to secure reimbursement.
